2019 Landskron/Lanškroun Heritage Tour
August 8 through 12, 2019
Dates
The bus will leave Hotel Don Giovanni in Prague on Thursday, August 8, 2019 and return to Prague on Monday, August 12, 2019. (If any travelers are planning on traveling to Vienna after the 2019 Landskron/Lanškroun Heritage Tour, the bus will drop them off at the train station at Česká Třebová before 1:00 p.m. so travelers can take the 2:21 p.m. train to Vienna.)
Tour highlights
The tour will include stops at:
1) Lanškroun City Hall
2) St. Wenceslas church in Lanškroun;
3) St. Anna church in Lanškroun;
4) St. Mary Magdalene church in Lanškroun;
5) Municipal Museum in Lanškroun
6) Lanškroun Cemetery;
7) Mariánská Hora chapel and look-out tower;
8) Museum of Crafts in Letohrad;
9) Lanšperk – castle ruin;
10) Chapel of the Visitation of Virgin Mary in Horní Houžovec (Hertersdorf); and
11) Nový Zámek in Rudeltice/Rudelsdorf – palace remnant with tavern and museum.
Additionally, the tour will include houses, churches and cemeteries in some of our ancestral villages in the Landskron/Lanškroun area. These tour destinations will be determined once the ancestral villages of the 2019 tour participants are determined.
Cost
$750 per person/double room and $850 per person/single room.
The $750/$850 includes
1) Bus transportation from Hotel Don Giovanni in Prague to Lanškroun and return transportation to the train station in Česká Třebová (for those heading to Vienna) or Hotel Don Giovanni in Prague;
2) Four nights of lodging at the Pension Martina or Pension Jakub in downtown Lanškroun;
3) Four breakfasts at the Pension Martina or Pension Jakub;
4) Bus transportation in the Lanškroun area on Friday, Saturday and Monday;
5) Lunch at Letohrad museum;
6) Entrance at the Letohrad Museum, Novy Zamek Museum and the Lanškroun Museum;
7) Basic health insurance from August 8 to August 12 to supplement your pre-existing health insurance. (Coverage varies based upon age. Coverage diminishes the older the traveler is.);
8) The services of a translator and local historian, Stanislav Horak; and
9) The guide services of Edward G. Langer
Tour size
The tour group is limited to 25 persons, including the tour leader.
Tour leader
Edward G. Langer is the tour leader. He has been studying the emigration from the district of Landskron/Lanškroun since 1974 and has led tour groups to Landskron/Lanškroun in 2014 and 2017. He has given numerous talks on the emigration from Landskron/Lanškroun. Also, his article about the emigration has been published numerous times.

Some things to think about
Traveling is by its nature is stressful, especially when you are traveling in an unfamiliar country with different customs and food. Before signing up for the trip, please be aware of the following challenges on the trip:
1) The Lanškroun area is not a tourist destination with the menu choices you are used to in America. This trip may be difficult for you if you have dietary restrictions;
2) We will be walking from the bus to certain sites on unpaved and uneven paths. This trip may be difficult for you if you have mobility issues; and
